This is likely my last post in this journal. My paid account has run out, and so I'm moving my focus to Insane Journal. Feel free to friend me there, if you like.
The other topic for discussion is my birthday. It was yesterday, and was wonderful. I recieved the big things I had asked for, and more.
( Present list, for those interested )
All in all, a nice way to grow older.

Reply to this post, and I'll tell you one or two (maybe even three) reasons why I like you.
Then, put this in your own journal and spread the love!
I am not really updating livejournal anymore. If you have an insane journal, you can friend me over here. I'm not on as much as I could be, instead pretending to be Duff McKagan and Kerry Hatch.
I'm still reading over here, however, and will be keeping this journal open to comment on other people's entries.
Final parting note (for now): Velvet Revolver is hot.

I'm rarely happy to be broke, but this weekend I splurged on a couple of PSPs. Used, since I'm too poor to buy us new ones, but still...
So now, I have a PSP (lovingly named Sasha), a memory card (named Milla), and a couple games. And the Sib has a PSP (named Raz), a memory card (named Lili), and a couple games.
That is all.

Over the past couple of weeks, I've made a few musical discoveries with the help of people like itchy_ishida and abeilledeverte. After being sucked into Metalocalypse, my love for metal reignited. I've been craving it: the clean guitar, lyrics being growled to me, the constant tap of the drums...all things that combine and create metal. It's fusion, cohesion, something to be amazed at. And with the aid of someone's Last.fm, I've been able to pick and choose who to listen to. Next stop: Gorillaz. I'll start by saying that I love Damon Albarn. I have since before I knew who Blur was. Anything he touches is golden, and therefore, I love it. I'll follow up with the fact that I love the idea of fictional bands. Especially when the creators go through lengths to make the creations seem more realistic, such as putting out books about them, and DVDs, and scheduling live performances that really leave nothing to be desired. Mmm, Gorillaz. And LOLZ @ Murdoc's Flying V. Continuing on, VNV Nation. They're tagged as industrial, but I'm not really feeling that. For me, they're like a beautiful blend of VAST and Tool. Freakin' awesome. I can't really begin to describe how happy listening to a track like Genesis makes me, but suffice to say, I really like it. I've rekindled my love affair with Phil Collins, too. Something about the Tarzan soundtrack makes a wave of calm settle over me. I laugh, I cry, and I love the music. It's something in the way Mr Collins writes his songs that does it to me every time. Also, Alice Cooper has the best version of Because (originally by the Beatles). And the Bee Gees did my favorite version of She's Leaving Home that I've heard yet. Something about robot girls and visuals to match the lyrics.
Maybe some day, I'll be able to put into words how music makes me feel...

Bought a car today. *pictures*
And insurance.
I feel strangely pleased with myself.
So, I haven't done the huge year in review post yet. I guess now is as good a time as any.
January, 2005, I was settling into my new job at L---'- HIW. I'd been unemployed for almost two months, and things were finally looking up. I had a steady job that didn't make me insane, I had neat people to work with, and I was looking forward to the fresh start. Also, High School Musical.
February, I spent another V-Day single. I have a feeling this is a trend that shall continue until...it stops. I don't really care anymore, I just miss having someone I could cuddle with. It was nice. Anyway, still having much fun at work, enjoying myself immensely.
March, my engine died. Somehow, it lost lubrication and fused together. Rather fishy, especially since I'd changed the oil not two weeks earlier...however, it did teach me to pay attention to the dummy lights in the dashboard. Birthday was rather uneventful, due to the replacing of engine. Saddened, yes, but not to a severe extent. Also, Sakuracon. Cosplayed Urahara, from Bleach. Still need to upload my pictures...
April, B started at the job place, too. Spent a couple of days at another store learning a new position, and soon April was over.
May, saw coworker at annual Beltaine thing. That was cool. Started new position, had great enjoyment from it. Worked a set schedule, dictated my own breaks/lunch. Around this point, insurance was supposed to be kicking in. I'd been without health insurance for three or four years, and was actually getting worried about illness. My immune system is wonky- I'll have long periods of time where I don't get sick, then I'll be sick all the time. Need to fix that.
June, Boy visited from Oregon for the Sib's birthday. Exceptional awesomeness to be had there. Still doing the nifty set schedule thing, but playing with what hours I worked. Also, sick.
July, sick. Working and living in my car, sleeping briefly at the house. Was put back as a cashier due to overwhelming sickness. Threw out my back, couldn't perform job duties. Also, Summerstar. Super hot, van broke down...we got crammed into a small SUV with two-thirds our camping gear. It was fun nonetheless. Plus, we got kittens- Kaneda and Tetsuo.
August, met Ashe properly. Hit it off with the youngest Yoruhana, and realised she lived closer than previously thought. Started getting a bit unhappy at work, as managers and supervisors were not communicating the way they should've been.
September, well and truly tweaked back. Couldn't lift, couldn't grab/pull, etc. Silly supervisors for putting me in returns, where stupid people can't be bothered to lift things out of carts and put them into the correct bins. Stupid customers returning tile all the time. Damn them.
October, didn't go to California like I'd hoped to. Thus, missed the Halloween show, which looked to have been awesome. BT4 was dressed as the boyscout from the cover of Only A Lad. How kickass is that? Halloween came and went with no fanfare. I didn't dress up at all...nothing happened. No pumpkin, no costume, no party. I'm still a bit sad about that.
November, B trashed the alignment on the car. Just about as soon as it was back, I got a speeding ticket (my first one ever). Wouldn't have been so bad, except I didn't have the new insurance card in my wallet, and the tabs on the car were expired. Hello, $1000 ticket. Goodbye, hopes of being out of my parent's house by New Year's. Thanksgiving was nice, just the fam and Ashe.
December, High School Musical in concert. Hell yes. Also, the Sib was house-sitting for a couple over in Redmond. We had record winds that knocked power out for almost two weeks in some places. The store was out of power for four days. The house went nearly a week, so we did Yule celebration where the Sib was sitting. Once the winds stopped and the power was back, the Sib got her permit. Unfortunately, the car was totalled. ( Here's the confession ). Still, we manage.
New Year's has come and gone, much the same way as all the other holidays over the past year. We had a freak snowstorm that piled a foot of snow in our yard for almost two weeks. I called out from work due to the weather. Luckily, the cold snap broke, and we have grass in our yard again. Life is continuing on, steadily. And I'm still in this rut, still living on my parent's couch (okay, so its a loveseat). I wish we could get on our feet enough to actually be on our feet. I wish...there was something I could do to make everything better.
Where's my magic wand?

Power dropped, no internets. Winter from hell. Full update later, because I know it matters so much in the grand scheme of things.
So, The Sib got her permit today. We are very pleased. Sadly, on her first legal driving expedition, we were t-boned. We're both okay, just battered and bruised. And I have no car. But we're okay, and that's what matters.

Let me just start with a loud, resounding, "what the CRAP?" Have you ever had something you truly loved, cherished? And then watched someone take that very thing and destroy it, breaking any good part of it? That what it feels like to watch the remake of The Wicker Man, if you've seen and loved the original.
Nicholas Cage used to be a pretty decent actor (sometime around "City of Angels"), but this is embarassing. Why is he not more religious? He should be a firm believer in upholding the Christian Ideal (tm), not this simple Californian motorcycle cop. Also, he needs to stop trying to follow in Dale Cooper's footsteps. His dreams don't lead to any revelations, unlike another LEO sent to the Great Northwest.
And Summerzisle? Again, what the crap? And where's the cheery folk songs? And the men? I miss the maypole song, and the boys and Ash Buchanan.
What's with Willow? She went from a blonde sexpot to this ugly, simpering wretch.
All in all, a horrible movie. Once again, Hollywood has made mockery of something near and dear to me.

Many of you already know that I'm a Disney kid. I love Disney. Disney music is particularly infectuous. So, when the Disney Channel decided to release a High School Musical, I was hooked. It's been out for almost a year, and in that year it has taken over the world. Since it's release on New Year's Eve, 2005, two DVD editions have come out, two versions of the soundtrack, posters, handbags, sneakers, the works. HSM is the biggest thing from Disney in years. So, it is little surprise that they sent out the crew on a concert roadtrip. It started back in November, at the Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade, and finally made it to the Northwest last night. Among the crowd of screaming 10 year old fans were my sibs and myself.
Jordan Pruitt, the opening act, was okay- she's the new kid on the Disney block (her words; she did one of the ballad-y songs for "Read It And Weep"), and it shows. She has very little stage presence, and on a technical note, the sound was all wrong for her. Luckily they fixed by the time the real show started.
After Jordan was a twenty minute intermission (to give all the kids a chance to drag Mommy and Daddy to the merch booths and point out which shirts they wanted. We took that time to get some water and overpriced, logo'd litesticks. Silly Disney, HSM litesticks should be red, not green.
During the intermission, we were pleased to note that Sterling, of Disney 365, was filming for a segment. Something like ten takes, I lost count.
Finally, after all that waiting, they were on. All my fears were vanished- I had worried that the jetlag from being on the road would get to the performers and bring the mood down of the entire show- no need to worry. They were all wonderful. Joining the actors was Drew Seely, who co-wrote the music and sang the part of Troy. The change was near unnoticed. Everyone was in top form, and they showcased half the cast to promote their solo albums- Vanessa "Baby V" Hudgens (Gabriella) did three tunes; Ashley Tisdale (Sharpay) did two, as did Corbin Bleu (Chad). Lucas Grabeel (Ryan) was our emcee and comic relief. Monique Coleman (Taylor) did a stunning tango for Drew's "Dance With Me," she was on "Dancing With the Stars," if any of you followed that.
After the show, we were tired, homicidal and a bit hoarse, so we got our t-shirts and headed home. A lot of fun. Ridiculously fun. I'd do it again if I had the chance, and this time, I'd even shell out the $30 to go backstage and trample small children to get a glimpse of the most influental 20-somethings Disney has to offer.
All in all, it's obvious that Disney is milking us for all we have, and we're going along happily with it. This is the biggest cash cow they've got at the moment, so might as well be along for the ride, right?
